Fire Sunday damaged a vacant, two-story home in Hancock Park, where no injuries were reported.

Firefighters dispatched at 5:10 a.m. to the 200 block of South June Street reported heavy fire throughout the residence and had the fire out within 61 minutes of their arrival, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blaze initially forced firefighters out of the home and into a defensive mode, but with the bulk of the fire extinguished on the first floor, firefighters went into an offensive mode and made their way to the second floor of the home, Bastman said.

The fire extended through the attic, with some of the fire present in the basement, she said. No one was injured and searches of the home turned up no occupants.

A cause of the fire was under investigation.
