Homicide detectives were investigating the murder of a 35-year-old man in an unincorporated area near Gardena, authorities said Saturday.
Deputies responded at 6:40 p.m. Friday to a call from Los Angeles County firefighters who received a 911 call of a gunshot victim in the 400 block of West Redondo Beach Boulevard and upon arrival located a man lying on a sidewalk near an auto body shop, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Four men were at the scene attempting to assist the victim, but they left prior to deputies’ arrival, Crowder said. Paramedics attempted to treat the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Crowder said.
His name will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
A detailed description of the suspect was not available.
