A man riding a bicycle died after he was hit by a vehicle in Lancaster, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputies responded about 11:40 p.m. to the area near West Avenue K and Park Avenue and located the victim, who was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Sgt. L. Arnold of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station.
A preliminary investigation determined both the bicyclist and the vehicle were traveling eastbound on Avenue K when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle hit the bicycle rider, he said. The driver stopped and tried to help the man.
No arrest was reported and alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the accident, Arnold said.
