The Disaster Recovery Center set up for Woolsey Fire victims is set to close Thursday, which is the deadline for aid applications to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In-person assistance in working with FEMA and the Small Business Association is available for the next two days at 30440 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills. Residents can also visit www.disasterassistance.gov or call (800) 621-3362 to submit an application.

County officials say FEMA has provided Los Angeles County residents with more than $3 million in assistance through the Individuals and Households Program to date, helping homeowners and renters with temporary housing, essential home repairs, personal property replacement and other serious disaster-related needs.

Thursday is also the deadline for choosing to have the government clear debris from affected properties or going it alone.

“If your property was destroyed by the Woolsey Fire, you must make an important choice about how you will clear debris from your property by January 31st,” said Leslie Luke, director of L.A. County’s Recovery Coordinating Center. “There are two choices: either opt in to the government-sponsored fire debris removal program with no direct cost to eligible property owners, or opt out and complete the debris removal work on your own in an environmentally safe way that meets state and county requirements.”

For help with debris removal, residents can go to the Debris Removal Operation Center at 26610 Agoura Road in Calabasas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday or call the Fire Debris Hotline at (626) 979-5370. Debris removal forms and applications can also be downloaded online at www.lacounty.gov/lacountyrecovers.

Property owners who fail to take action by the deadline may incur fees.

For help with planning and permits, the Recover and Rebuild One-Stop Center, located at 26600 Agoura Road in Calabasas, is open Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
