San Marino High School was placed on lockdown Monday while authorities investigated a threat.
“We are currently working with San Marino Police Department to determine the credibility of the threat,” the school wrote on its website. “Out of an abundance of caution the school will remain on lockdown until we receive further direction from SMPD.”
Students and staff are safe, and those not already on the campus were urged to remain at home, the school’s website said. The threat was received about 6:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Times reported.
“There are incorrect rumors going around that there is an active shooter at the high school,” the school said in statement posted about 9 a.m.
“The high school is on lockdown only as a precaution. There is no shooter on campus, and police are currently patrolling the campus. There has been no threat made against any other school and the SMPD has advised that other district schools can be open as usual,” the statement said.
“It has not yet been determined if the high school will be closed for the full day,” the statement said. “We are awaiting direction from the police department, and which is currently still investigating.”
