At least one person was killed in a traffic crash Friday morning near a school in Pomona.

Officers responded about 2:30 a.m. to the crash near La Verne Science and Technology Charter School at 250 W. La Verne Avenue, near Garey Avenue, and found a vehicle that had collided with a power pole, according to a statement from the Pomona Police Department. Power lines may have been downed as a result of the crash.

The vehicle, an SUV, burst into flames as a result of the collision and the driver was found dead inside the vehicle, NBC4 reported.
