At least three people were shot Sunday, two of them critically, in South Los Angeles and authorities were searching for whoever shot them.
The attack was about 2:45 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The injured included three men and one woman, Stewart said. Two of the men were listed in critical condition and the other two victims suffered non-life-threatening wounds, Stewart said.
Only three were taken to a hospital for treatment, she said.
“We had the fourth person, a man, prepared to go to the hospital, but at the last minute he changed his mind and left the scene,” Stewart said.
Stewart also said she didn’t know if that fourth person was hit by gunfire, only that he “suffered non-life-threatening injuries.” What those injuries were is unclear at this point.
It happened in a parking lot, Sgt. S. Blackman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Division said.
There was no word yet on what precipitated the shooting or whether it was gang-related, Blackman said.
The ages of the victims have not yet been released.
