The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Saturday for the third consecutive day, decreasing 2.2 cents to $6.018.
The average price has dropped 4.5 cents over the past three days, including 1.3 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.2 cents less than one week ago, but 23.5 cents more than one month ago and $1.356 higher than a year ago.
The average price has risen $1.463 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 35.5 cents of the record $6.373 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price recorded its largest decrease of the year, dropping 2.3 cents to $4.529, one day after a four-day streak of increases totaling 5.1 cents ended with a decrease of 1.2 cents.
The national average price is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, 49.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.332 more than one year ago. It has risen $1.547 since the attack on Iran, moving within 48.7 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
The national average price will also drop Sunday and Monday “perhaps seeing a rise after,” according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
