Authorities Friday identified a man and a teenage boy who were killed in a shooting in the Athens area that left another person wounded.
Deputies sent to the 11700 block of Berendo Avenue about 8 p.m. Wednesday found the three wounded people in the front yard of a residence, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Travon Williams of Los Angeles, 33, died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported. Jamieon Jackson, 16, also of Los Angeles, died at a hospital. A third person who was shot was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
No arrests were reported, and no description was released of a suspect or suspects. It was unclear if the shooting involved gang activity, the sheriff’s department reported.
A second shooting apparently unrelated to the first shooting was reported about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of West 105th Street, the LASD said.
Responding deputies located three victims at three different locations in close proximity to each other, the LASD reported.
One man suffered at least one gunshot wound to his upper body and died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. Two women were taken to a hospital, one suffering from a gunshot wound and one with severe head trauma, the sheriff’s department said.
The shooting appeared to be a result of a domestic incident, and a family member was detained for questioning, the LASD said.
Anyone with information on either case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
