Police Thursday released the name and images of an 18-year-old man wanted in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old homeless man in June in Westminster.
The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Andrade of Westminster, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Three others — Andrew Holguin, 21, of Midway City; Christian Huerta, 19, of Huntington Beach; and a 16-year-old boy from Westminster — have been arrested and are facing murder charges for the killing of victim Duc Le, whose body was found about 10:05 p.m. on June 20, Westminster police Sgt. Eddie Esqueda said.
Officers found Le dead after responding to Locust Street just south of Westminster Boulevard to investigate a report of a person down and bleeding, according to Esqueda.
Le was homeless and known to sleep in the area, Esqueda said.
“During a subsequent investigation, it was learned that the victim… was assaulted by four suspects and his body was left at the location after the assault,” Esqueda said. “Three of the four suspects have been arrested and are currently awaiting court proceedings. The fourth suspect, Jeffrey Andrade, is currently wanted by police for his alleged part in the murder.”
A motive remains unclear, according to Esqueda.
“There may have been witnesses in the area at the time of the crime and we hope someone will come forward and provide additional information about this case, or Andrade’s whereabouts,” Esqueda said. “He is on the run and knows he is wanted.”
Anyone with information about Andrade or the case in general was urged to call Westminster police at 714-548-3212. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or occrimestoppers.org.
