A person was wounded Friday in an officer-involved shooting following a jewelry store robbery in Glendora.

Paramedics sent to the 600 block of West Route 66 about 12:30 p.m. took the injured person to a hospital in unknown condition, according to the county fire department.

Glendora police confirmed that an officer-involved shooting had occurred.

Authorities did not immediately release any details of the shooting or the wounded person. NBC4 reported from the scene that the shooting occurred during or after a robbery at Lamas Jewelry in the 700 block of Route 66.

Nearby Stanton Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, according to the Glendora Unified School District. Students were being taken by bus to a parking lot on the south side of Citrus College Stadium to be reunited with parents and guardians.

Azusa Pacific University’s Office of University Relations was also locked down, with staff told the shelter in place.

Route 66 was closed between Barranca and Grand avenues following the shooting.
