A man was fatally shot Monday and two women were injured when a fight at a Hacienda Heights party led to gunfire, authorities said.

Authorities went to the 15300 block of Manzanita Drive about 1:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting, said sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader.

The party was at a nearby residence in the 1700 block of Vallecito Drive, she said.

“Earlier in the evening, deputies responded to this location for a loud party call,” Schrader said. “As the victims were believed to be leaving the party, a dark colored vehicle approached …”

One or more suspects fired several rounds at the victims, and the vehicle sped off. It was unclear if the suspect or suspects got out of the vehicle before firing, Schrader said.

“When deputies arrived, they discovered a man lying on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso,” Schrader said.

The 33-year-old man died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his relatives.

Two women in their 20s suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Schrader said.

“One received a gunshot wound to the upper torso,” the deputy said. “She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The second female was treated at the scene for minor injuries related to the shooting — not a gunshot wound.”

No suspect information was released.

Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
