A 45-year-old Rancho Palos Verdes woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide by a man later found dead in a home in Lake Arrowhead was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office Friday, but an autopsy to determine her cause of death was pending.

Martyne Elizabeth Bonzo was found dead about 2:45 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 27800 block of Palmeras Place.

Deputies from the Lomita Station were asked to conduct a welfare check on a man and woman who lived at the home and when they arrived at the house they found the woman suffering from traumatic injuries, but were not able to locate the man who lived there, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Bonzo was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

An investigation determined the couple also owned a home in Lake Arrowhead in San Bernardino County and a request was made to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to check that home for the man.

Deputies went to the Lake Arrowhead home and found a man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred told the Daily Breeze the man, 48-year-old Antonio “Tony” Lopez, had emailed family members to say he had learned Bonzo had been unfaithful and expressed intentions that caused concern.

The family requested the welfare check, Alfred told the newspaper.

Bonzo had just turned 45 on Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.
