A suspect was wounded Monday in a deputy-involved shooting in East Los Angeles.

Firefighters were summoned at about 5:40 p.m. to the 3600 block of Fourth Street, but did not immediately take anyone to a hospital, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor said.

A spokeswoman at the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said no deputies were injured, but she was unable to immediately confirm a broadcast report that the suspect had been killed.

People were advised to avoid the area of Fourth and Indiana streets.
