Three co-workers at an Anaheim landscaping company were found unconscious Monday in a vehicle in Placentia and police suspect that they overdosed on fentanyl they mistook for cocaine.
The men were found in a car in the parking lot of Mr. K’s Liquor at 615 W. Orangethorpe Ave., near the Orange (57) Freeway, about 5:15 p.m., according to Sgt. Bryce Angel of the Placentia Police Department. They regained consciousness after officers and paramedics rendered aid and gave them Narcan, an anti-opiate medication, police reported.
The victims later told authorities that they ingested a white powder believing it was cocaine. Police suspect that the white powder was actually the powerful opioid analgesic Fentanyl.
Fentanyl is similar to morphine but can be 50 to 100 times more potent, according to police.
