Two 19-year-olds and a 16-year-old boy in an allegedly stolen Honda compact crossover SUV were arrested Friday after a pursuit in Garden Grove.
An officer attempted to pull over a silver Honda Element, which was reported stolen, traveling southbound on Harbor Boulevard, near Hazard Avenue, about 10:35 a.m. Friday, according to Sgt. J. Brown of the Garden Grove Police Department.
The car did not stop, and while officers pursued the car on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway, two passengers in the back allegedly threw a spare tire, a tire jack, and a knife toward pursuing officers, Brown said.
The chase ended when the Honda crashed when the driver attempted to drive the wrong way on a San Diego (405) Freeway off-ramp, according to Brown. The suspects ran away, but officers apprehended them and took them into custody.
Richard Nguyen, 19, of Garden Grove and Erika Palacios, 19, of Hemet, were booked at the Orange County Jail, and a 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was booked at Juvenile Hall, Brown said.
They were booked for assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, felony evading and conspiracy to commit vehicle fraud.
