A routine traffic stop of a convicted felon driving in opposite lanes of traffic in Pomona netted marijuana and a pair of brass knuckles inside his vehicle as well as a rifle, handgun and large amounts of gun ammunition inside his home, police said Sunday.

Officers pulled over Mario Galvez, 38, a little after 7 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of West Second Street when they noticed his car driving in the opposite lanes of traffic, the Pomona Police Department reported.

Officers learned that Galvez had a suspended license and found marijuana in the vehicle that was packaged for drug sales as well as a pair of brass knuckles what were concealed in the center console of the car.

A search warrant at the Pomona resident’s home turned up a rifle, handgun and large amounts of gun ammunition. Police also found more marijuana in amounts that were consistent with drug sales.

Galvez, a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing any weapons or firearms, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of marijuana for sales and possession of brass knuckles.
