The driver of a suspected stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV was arrested Tuesday after a high-speed pursuit from Santa Clarita to Burbank.
The suspect led officers on a chase, which reached speeds over 100 mph, from the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway to the Golden State (5) Freeway, and through residential areas in Burbank, according to broadcast reports.
The car’s trunk opened during the chase, and several boxes fell out. It was not immediately clear what was in the boxes, or if the suspect dumped the cargo on purpose.
The chase ended about 5:45 p.m. when the car collided with a California Highway Patrol vehicle near West Monterey Avenue and North Myers Street.
The suspect ran from the vehicle, but was apprehended by officers and taken into custody.
The sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station could not immediately be reached for more information.
