A 63-year-old woman was killed and two other people seriously injured Friday in a collision at a Riverside intersection triggered when a motorist turned in front of an oncoming car, according to police.

The deadly wreck occurred about 2:10 p.m. at Arlington and Magnolia avenues, according to Riverside Police Department Sgt. Ryan Wilson.

A 49-year-old man driving a 2009 Infiniti sports car was going west on Arlington Avenue when he began a left turn to go south on Magnolia Avenue, Wilson said.

“The vehicle collided with a 2010 Hyundai traveling eastbound on Arlington,” Wilson said. “The driver of the Hyundai, a 63-year-old Riverside resident, was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.”

The victim was identified as Vicki Gonzales.

Two other occupants of the Hyundai suffered major injuries and were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment, according to Wilson. Their names were not immediately disclosed.

The driver of the Infiniti suffered minor injuries and apparently was not hospitalized.

Police closed the intersection for six hours, reopening it about 8:20 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, Wilson said.
