Authorities Thursday identified a man who was fatally shot by a security guard after allegedly stabbing the guard in Mar Vista.
The shooting occurred about 12:05 p.m. Wednesday near Inglewood Boulevard and Charnock Road, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Jahziah Copeland, 30, of Inglewood, died at scene, the coroner’s office reported.
According to KTLA5, the knife-wielding man attacked the guard at a construction site at Modjeska Place and Inglewood Boulevard, then ran away.
The guard chased him to Inglewood and Charnock, where a second altercation took place and the shooting occurred. The guard, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, Channel 5 reported.
