A man suspected of trying to rob an armored vehicle security guard outside a Bank of America ATM in Moreno Valley was shot during the scuffle, but survived, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
It happened just after 11:40 a.m. Friday at a shopping center at the corner of Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
During the attempted robbery, there was a struggle between the suspect and the guard for the guard’s gun, during which the suspect was shot once, Sgt. Ed Baeza said.
Both the suspect and guard were hospitalized.
Authorities said they were withholding the suspect’s identity until he is booked into a jail.
