A 40-year-old motorist was fatally injured Saturday when his speeding pickup truck rear-ended a stopped tractor-trailer on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, police said.
The motorist was speeding westbound on Pacific Coast Highway in a 2013 Ram 1500 pickup truck when it rear-ended the tractor-trailer, which was stopped at a red light and beginning to accelerate through a green light west of Technology Place, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:15 a.m. Paramedics rushed the 40-year-old, the lone occupant inside the truck, to an area hospital, where the Long Beach resident was pronounced dead from his injuries.
It was not immediately known if distracted or impaired driving were factors in the crash.
