A man was killed and three other people were critically injured Saturday when a vehicle in the Pacific Palisades left the roadway and crashed into two parked vehicles, authorities said.
Another person suffered minor injuries at the crash scene in the 17800 block of Pacific Coast Highway, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A vehicle was going southbound on Pacific Coast Highway at 3:38 a.m. when it left the road and struck two parked vehicles, said Officer Jeffrey Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
A man sitting inside one of the parked vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, Lee said.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the location at 3:42 a.m. and reported that three people were critically injured and another person suffered minor injuries. All were transported to area hospitals, Humphrey said.
The crash forced the closure of the northbound and southbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway, from Sunset Boulevard to Coastline Drive, Caltrans reported.
No further information was immediately released.
