A pedestrian was killed Tuesday by a hit-and-run driver in the South Los Angeles area.

The victim, in his 20s, was struck about 1:50 a.m. on Vermont Avenue near 92nd Street and died at a hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The identity of the fatally injured man was withheld, pending notification of his family.

No description of the hit-and-run vehicle was released.
