Authorities Monday identified a man who was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting in Boyle Heights that left another man and a woman critically wounded, and continued their efforts to solve the crime.
The shooting occurred about 8:50 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Fickett Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Rafael Baez, 29, of Los Angeles died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office and the LAPD. The survivors, in their late 20s, were taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
No description was available of the suspect, who fled on foot, according to police, who asked anyone with information on the case to call the LAPD’s Hollenbeck station at 323-342-4100, or (877) LAPD-247.
