A motorist died Saturday when a vehicle crashed into a street light pole in Riverside.

The crash occurred at 12:24 a.m. around Van Buren Boulevard and Mason Street, according to Riverside police.

The 18-year-old Riverside resident was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s gender was not released.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while southbound on Van Buren Boulevard approaching Mason Street, police said. The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the crash, police said.
