A 50-year-old man was killed and another man injured Wednesday morning in a shooting in Bellflower.

A sheriff’s deputy traveling in the 15300 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk about 12:25 a.m. was flagged down by someone in a white vehicle, and the deputy found two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

It was later determined by detectives the men were shot in the 15300 block of Woodruff Place, near Somerset Boulevard, in Bellflower and driven to the location in Norwalk, the department said.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the coroner’s office as Lawrence Ventura.

The other man was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs.

A motive for the shooting and suspect descriptions were not immediately available.
