One person was killed Tuesday evening in a fire at a homeless encampment in the Palms area of Los Angeles.
Firefighters responded about 9:50 p.m. to a trash fire in the 9900 block of Venice Boulevard, near Hughes Avenue, and found one person dead, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by the fire department’s Arson Counter Terrorism Section and the Los Angeles Police Department.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
