A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was fired upon Thursday evening while on patrol in Compton.
The Century Station deputy heard several shots directed toward his patrol vehicle about 9 p.m. along a stretch of Euclid Avenue, according to Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The deputy was not hit and did not return fire, Meza said.
A containment area was set up and a search for the suspect was ongoing, said Meza.
There were no reports of anyone being struck by stray bullets.
A description of a suspect was not immediately available.
