Police Sunday had a murder mystery on their hands as they hunted the killer of a young woman whose body was found near the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles.

The woman was identified as Veronica Strawbridge Magneson of Arcata, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Officials did not provide an exact age for the victim, but police earlier had estimated she was between 20 and 25 years old.

Los Angeles Police Department officers found Magneson dead just before 6 a.m. Friday near the 110 Freeway and West 118th Place while responding to the area for a death investigation, said the department’s Officer William Cooper.

Police did not comment on how or when she was killed. They did disclose facts about a death scene and whether she had been murdered where she was found or if she was killed somewhere else and her body dumped where authorities found her.

They did not provide any details regarding the case, nor how they had managed to identify the victim.

There was no word from authorities if they had any information about the possible killer.
