A 47-year-old Menifee man turned himself into authorities Thursday after being sought in a hit-and-run in Norwalk that killed a 75-year-old woman.
The crash occurred around 8:15 a.m. Sunday near Pioneer and Firestone boulevards when the man at the wheel of a white GMC Savannah 3500 van pulled out of a parking lot, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Bertha Nunez of Norwalk died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Rodolfo Diaz Perez later admitted to fleeing, then returning to the scene minutes afterward, but “failed to notify deputies that he was the driver” in the hit-and-run crash, according to the sheriff’s department.
Perez turned himself into authorities Thursday and was booked into the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run, according to the LASD. His bail was set at $100,000.
