A 25-year-old inmate at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange died of a suspected overdose Friday.

The man, who was booked into jail in June on a probation violation, was found unresponsive on his bed in dormitory housing and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 11 a.m., according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department Public Affairs Director Carrie Braun.

The sheriff’s department did not specify on what substance the inmate may have overdosed on, but noted “there are no suspicious circumstances” in his death

The inmate’s name was not released pending notification of his next of kin.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the death and the sheriff’s department will conduct an in-custody death review, Braun said.
