A man was shot on a San Jacinto street and the assailant was still at large Wednesday.
The attack happened at about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Main Street, near Dogwood Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Mike Heath said patrol deputies were called to the area to investigate reports of an assault and found the victim, whose identity was not released, over eight blocks away, suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was expected to make a full recovery, Heath said.
“At the original scene on Main Street, deputies located several bullet casings and damage to a vehicle,” the sergeant said.
Detectives spoke to several potential witnesses and gathered additional details that they hoped would reveal the shooter’s identity, according to Heath.
A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Hemet station at 951-791-3400.
