No one was injured when a reckless driving suspect evading police smashed into another vehicle in Bell and flipped his S-U-V onto its roof, authorities said Saturday.
The pursuit began just before 11 p.m. Friday in Boyle Heights, and the suspect led officers through Vernon and other Eastside communities before driving at high speeds into Bell.
The suspect was taken into custody by Los Angeles Police Department officers at 11:18 p.m. near Bell High School, where the suspect’s white SUV ran through an intersection at Otis and Bell avenues, clipped another vehicle and then went airborne, with sparks flying, as it finally slammed into a power pole and then a tree.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 11:20 p.m., but no one was taken to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
“We got there and then cleared the scene,” the dispatcher said.
