A man pulled unresponsive from a vehicle that crashed into a parked vehicle in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area near Watts Sunday was the victim of homicide.

The crash was reported at 3:14 p.m. in the 9100 block of Holmes Avenue, near East 92nd Street, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“CHP officers and fire personnel observed that a male Hispanic in his mid- to late 40’s was driving south on Holmes Avenue when he collided with a parked vehicle and was now unresponsive,” Koerner said. “They removed him from the vehicle and saw that he was suffering from either a stab wound or gunshot to the upper torso. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.”

There was no murder weapon at the scene and there was no suspect description, he said.
