A 27-year-old motorist was killed when his vehicle was hit by a freight train in Corona, authorities said Monday.

George Zayas of Corona was fatally injured about 3:55 a.m. Sunday on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks at the east end of the city.

According to Corona police Officer Tobias Kouroubacalis, the vehicle was on the tracks for unknown reasons when it was hit by the train, killing Zayas on impact.
