An off-duty Inglewood police officer was wounded in a shooting Thursday in the unincorporated Lennox area bordering Inglewood.
The shooting was reported about 10:10 a.m. in the 10900 block of Osage Avenue, near Prairie Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting Inglewood police in the investigation.
“One officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” said Deputy Veronica Fantom of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The off-duty officer was taken by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg. He was listed in stable condition Thursday night.
Investigators later learned the victim was at the scene to assist a family member “in possibly retrieving property” when he was confronted by a man who produced a gun and shot him, according to Fantom.
The suspect fled the scene in a light-colored sedan northbound on Osage Avenue.
Law enforcement officers from various agencies descended on the area, and a manhunt was under way. Officers from the Gardena and Hawthorne police departments were among those sent to the scene.
