A woman was killed early Monday morning in a multiple vehicle crash on the transition from the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway to the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach.

The crash was reported at 1:08 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman was driving a blue Toyota sedan at the time of the crash, according to the CHP. A second vehicle was ordered towed for evidence about 3 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

A SigAlert was issued at about 2:30 a.m. shutting down the transition road, but traffic on both freeways was still moving, Kimball noted. The transition road was reopened at 4:46 a.m.
