A Chatsworth man is expected to plead guilty Wednesday in separate federal criminal cases alleging he stalked females over the internet in Los Angeles and Georgia.

Alex Roberts, 27, has agreed to enter his plea to cyberstalking a Los Angeles woman by sending text messages threatening rape and murder. In the second case, he will plead guilty to stalking a 15-year-old girl in Georgia by sending a series of threatening and harassing messages, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The indictment in the L.A. case alleges that Roberts used text messages and internet communications to place the victim “in reasonable fear of death and serious bodily injury,” and that he intended to cause “substantial emotional distress.”

After being told by the L.A. victim and her family that she did not want to communicate with Roberts, he allegedly created a listing on Craigslist that offered a room for rent at her home and invited prospective renters to “stop by anytime,” according to the indictment.

He also sent anonymous text messages to a friend of the first victim that demanded her phone number, threatened to publish nude photographs of the woman, and threatened to send someone to rape the victim, court papers allege.

Information about a possible motive was not immediately available. Both cases, which were filed in L.A. federal court, are alleged to have taken place two years ago. It is not known how Roberts knew the victims.

In the Georgia case, Roberts allegedly claimed to possess nude images of the minor and threatened to send the images to her parents as “payback” if she did not send additional nude images, according to prosecutors.
