A domestic violence suspect holed up inside a Long Beach garage and pointed a nail gun at police officers before he was eventually arrested, authorities said Sunday.
Officers were dispatched at 11:05 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of East Barclay Street regarding a domestic violence call, where they located a woman with a minor injury to her upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
“Officers additionally located the male adult suspect who threatened to stab himself with a broken bottle,” police said. “The suspect fled into a garage and barricaded himself inside.”
Police said the man pointed a nail gun at officers, who deployed tear gas, less-lethal 40mm rounds and a K9 unit. A SWAT team was also called to the scene. Officers took the suspect into custody. Paramedics provided medical aid to both the woman and the suspect.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the suspect to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to be medically cleared prior to booking, police said.
