A suspect who led authorities on a pursuit in northern Los Angeles County was taken into custody Wednesday in the Santa Clarita area.
It was not immediately clear where and when the pursuit began, but it came to an end around 4:10 p.m. on the southbound side of the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, where pursuing officers used a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle — possibly a Toyota Camry — to a halt.
The suspect quickly exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.
The driver at times during the chase reached 100 mph. The car had at least one flat tire, possibly due to striking a spike strip on the freeway.
KCAL9 reported the suspect may have been a transient who stole a car from someone who was giving the person a ride.
