A man who was fatally shot in the South Los Angeles area was identified Thursday by county authorities.
Juan Portillo, 39, was identified by the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner as the victim. He died at the scene.
The shooting occurred at around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday in an alley near the 2000 block of West Manchester Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A male suspect was arrested in the area, the LAPD reported. His name was not immediately released.
The circumstances of the shooting were under investigation. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
