A man on a bicycle was killed Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in front of the Metro A Line station in west Long Beach.
The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. Saturday on Pacific Avenue at Wardlow Road, according to Long Beach Police Department spokesman Richard Mejia.
“Upon arrival, officers located a bicyclist … in the road with life-threatening injuries,” Mejia said. “Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.”
The woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Mejia said.
The LBPD shut down Pacific Avenue at Wardlow Road for the crash investigation. The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down the off-ramps from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway at Pacific Avenue.
