Police Thursday released surveillance video of a fatal hit-and-run in South Los Angeles in hopes of generating tips leading to the motorist who struck a pedestrian who was lying in the middle of a street.
The unidentified person was struck around 2:05 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Western and Vernon avenues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers who responded to the scene found the unidentified person on the roadway. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Surveillance video released by police Thursday show the pedestrian walking into the middle of the street, then apparently lying down in the center lane.
A northbound car then strikes the person in the street and continues driving away north on Western Avenue, according to police and the video.
