A 35-year-old man was killed when his SUV swerved off a Lancaster road and overturned, throwing him from the vehicle, authorities said Thursday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to Pearblossom Highway west of 165th Street East around 7 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a crash in which a motorist was ejected from the vehicle.

Detectives determined that the driver of a 2018 Nissan Armada was traveling east on Pearblossom Highway when he swerved off the roadway and overturned for reasons still under investigation, according to the CHP.

CHP officials said the motorist was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner was withholding the man’s name pending notification of relatives.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal crash was urged to contact Antelope Valley area CHP Officer Kwon at 661-948-8541. Calls during non-business hours should be directed to the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200.
