A man died Saturday by deputy gunfire after a domestic dispute ensued in Jurupa Valley.
Authorities responded at 3:48 a.m. Saturday to the 3300 block of Avalon Street, where they said they saw a male with a knife threaten a female within a group of family members, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
After deputies safely evacuated the victims from the household, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau along with the Crisis Negotiation Team were requested to assist the scene after the suspect refused to exit the residence.
According to Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez, the enforcement bureau entered the residence, but the suspect was unwilling to comply with them.
It was unclear what happened next, but the department reported that he suspect was then shot by at least one deputy while inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The identities of the suspect and the deputy or deputies involved in the shooting remained undisclosed to the public.
