Firefighters Saturday evening were investigating an explosion that damaged one unit of a two-story, garden-style Van Nuys apartment building.
The explosion was reported at 5:38 p.m. Saturday in the 7300 block of North Woodman Avenue, just south of Valerio Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Connor Thompson.
There were no signs of fire or smoke when firefighters arrived, but they did see broken windows in one unit, Thompson said.
No injuries were reported, he said. There was no active fire hazard.
Hazardous materials specialists remained at the scene after firefighters were released to determine the cause and whether there was more damage, Thompson said.
