A vehicle being chased by police Wednesday in the South Los Angeles area struck and killed a person, and the motorist was taken into custody, according to authorities and reports from the scene.
The crash occurred about 6:10 a.m. following a brief pursuit that led to Hooper Avenue and 46th Street, where the vehicle crashed and overturned, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, paramedics were sent to Hooper Avenue and 45th street around that time, and a person died at that location. Information was not immediately available on the identity of the person who died.
Fox 11 reported that the motorist was taken into custody. It was unclear why police were chasing the vehicle.
