A man reportedly suspected of carjacking led authorities on a multiple-freeway pursuit Monday before being taken into custody.

California Highway Patrol officers chased the suspect — who was driving a black Toyota Tundra pickup truck — from Los Angeles County and into Orange County along the 10, 110 and 405 freeways, ABC-7 reported.

At one point, police deployed a spike strip near the Springdale Street exit of the 405, deflating the truck’s right front tire.

The chase, conducted at normal freeway speeds, ended soon after near the Center Avenue exit off the southbound 405 as the pickup slowed to a stop.

The man opened the driver’s side door and partly exited the vehicle before being approached by officers, one of whom grabbed the man by the hand, ABC-7 reported. The man emerged from the pickup and was arrested.

It was not immediately clear if the pickup truck was the vehicle the driver was suspected of carjacking.
