A car caught fire during a collision on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Seal Beach, shutting down all but the HOV lanes.

The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Saturday on the northbound 405 Freeway near the transition to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to the Orange County Fire Authority, which posted video on X.

The small car was involved in a two-vehicle collision, the OCFA stated. The cause was not immediately determined.

Firefighters first confirmed everyone was out of the burning car, then put out the flames, fire officials said.

The OCFA video showed traffic moving in the HOV lanes while firefighters worked. No injuries were reported.

The California Highway Patrol reported all vehicles had been moved to the right shoulder as of 6:49 p.m.
